Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) would be privatised with openness, the government said to the Senate on Wednesday, according to Federal Minister for Privatisation Abdul Aleem Khan.
He promised that the entire process would be broadcast live and nothing would be hidden from the public and their representatives in response to a calling attention notice regarding the lack of transparency in all stages of the divestment and privatisation of PIA, including the financial process, the issuance of expressions of interest, bidding, contract awarding, and the segregation of core and non-core assets and liabilities.
He promised that PIA’s privatisation pre-qualification process will soon be finished. He emphasised that the privatisation of PIA, which has suffered cumulative losses of Rs. 830 billion, is beneficial to the country as a whole.
