Govt to ban PTI, seek Article 6 proceedings against Imran, others

On Monday, the federal government declared its decision to ban the party and file an Article 6 lawsuit against Imran Khan, the party’s founder, Dr. Arif Alvi, the former president, and Qasim Suri, the former deputy speaker of the NA.
This seems to be an attempt to keep Imran Khan’s party, the imprisoned former prime minister, from taking control of the National Assembly.
The declaration followed the Supreme Court’s relief to the PTI in the reserved seat case and to the party chief in the Iddat issue.
What effect the proposed ban will have on the PTI-affiliated parliamentarians and the top court’s ruling on reserved seats is still unknown.
