An 11-member delegation of the 29th Advanced Diplomatic Course friendly nations participating in the 29th Advanced Diplomatic Course, led by the Foreign Service Academy, paid Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman a visit today at Governor House Lahore.
The delegates came from friendly nations like South Africa, Sudan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as Bulgaria, Kenya, the Maldives, Somalia, and the Maldives. Governor of Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman gave a speech at the event and noted that Pakistan has friendly relations with many nations. In order to foster close cooperation with friendly nations in a variety of fields, including industry, agriculture, information technology, and human resource development.
Governor Punjab said that Pakistan supports concrete measures to promote close cooperation with friendly countries in various fields including industry, agriculture, information technology and human resource development. Punjab Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman said Pakistan is currently facing various challenges including the economic recession due to recent flash floods. He said that the government is taking every step to ensure good governance to improve the quality of life of the common man. Governor Punjab said that Pakistan is a peaceful country and many foreign students are studying under scholarships in Pakistani universities. Governor Punjab said that the Foreign Service Academy is an important institution with global reach. It has trained more than three thousand diplomats, half of whom are foreign diplomats. “I hope your course at the academy will help you hone your diplomatic skills,”he said.
On this occasion, Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman also answered the various questions asked by the officers.
Meanwhile, Punjab Governor, Muhammad Balighur Rehman, presided over a meeting regarding appointments to vacant statutory seats in public sector universities here at Governor House Lahore today. Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi especially participated in the meeting.
On this occasion, Secretaries Higher Education Department, Agriculture, Livestock, Industries, Commerce and Skill Development, Specialized Health Care and Medical Education Department, Auqaf and Religious Affairs told during the briefing that in 50 public sector universities 10 seats of Vice Chancellors, 40 seats of Pro Vice Chancellors , 33 seats of registrar , 38 seats of treasurer and 35 seats of controller of examinations are vacant. Governor Punjab while expressing his concern on this said that the universities have an important role in the development of the country. But it is regrettable that due to the bad governance of the previous government, the public sector universities have been running on ad hoc basis. Many statutory posts are vacant in universities. Non-appointments to these administrative seats affect the governance issues of the universities, he added. He said that due to vacant seat of Controller of Examinations in many universities students cannot get their degrees on time.
Punjab Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman said that he had issued a letter to the administrative departments of all the universities as soon as he assumed the post of Governor of Punjab to start the process of appointment to the vacant administrative seats 06 months in advance, so that governance problems do not arise in the universities. He said that livestock is very important for any country. Cholistan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Bahawalpur was established during the previous era of Muslim League-N. But after that no attention was given to its development. On this occasion, Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi directed Secretary Livestock to visit Cholistan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences immediately.
Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman said that the development of technology is very important for the development of the country. He said that the universities of technology were established with a purpose. He said that the work at Punjab Tianjin University of Technology has come to a standstill due to the return of Chinese professors. He issued instructions that the Chinese professors should be brought back with the help of the federal government. On this occasion, Governor Punjab and Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab instructed all the secretaries to make permanent appointments to the vacant administrative seats in the universities after taking formal permission from the Election Commission, so that there is no disruption in the administrative affairs of universities.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi also directed the concerned authorities to complete the process immediately. Secretaries of various administrative departments, Chairman Punjab Higher Education Commission, Dr. Shahid Munir and Principal Secretary to Governor Punjab, Nabeel Ahmad Awan were also present in the meeting.
