Govt striving to reduce burden of electricity prices, NA told

The government has taken a variety of steps to lessen the financial burden that power rates place on customers, the National Assembly was informed.
During Question Hour, Parliamentary Secretary for Power Division Aamir Talal Khan informed the House that talks with Independent Power Producers (IPPs) are part of the plans.

He emphasised that the procedure with other IPPs is still ongoing while mentioning the termination of contracts with five of them.

Federal Minister for Petroleum Musadik Malik told the National Assembly on Friday in response to a Calling Attention Notice in the House that the nation currently has an excess of LNG and that a tender for one more LNG cargo has been put out to meet the gas requirements for January.
