Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) requested on Monday that the government release the details of “illegal” agreements it has with Independent Power Producers (IPPs).
Speaking to the attendees of the JI sit-in, which is now in its fourth day, he criticised the government for the excessive power costs that are driving people to commit suicide.
He praised the participants for coming in large numbers and shown incredible bravery to persevere through the entire sit-in, making history.
He asserted that the JI was the only party capable of really representing Pakistan’s 250 million citizens.
Naeem said that it demonstrated the government’s cowardice to put obstacles in the way of JI women workers in Lahore.
