In order to guarantee a steady supply of the commodity at a reasonable price in local markets, the government has mandated the maintenance of local inventories and conditionally approved the export of 150,000 metric tonnes of sugar from the nation.
According to a press release released here on Monday, the decision to this effect was made during the Sugar Advisory Board meeting, which was chaired by Minister of Industry and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain.
The Pakistan Sugar Mills Association and the government reached an agreement in this regard.
The minister declared that all outstanding payments to farmers would be made first, and that the price of sugar from ex-mills would not be raised under any circumstances.
