Gilani for PUIC’s proactive role in advancing sustainable development

The Parliamentary Union of OIC Member Countries (PUIC) was urged to take the initiative in promoting sustainable development objectives through legislative actions and science diplomacy by Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Monday.

As the principal guest here at the Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS), he was speaking at the 25th IAS Scientific Conference, titled “Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystem Nexus for the Security of OIC Countries.”

Renowned scientists and researchers convened for a conference co-hosted by the PAS and the Islamic World Academy of Sciences (IAS) to deliberate on important matters confronting the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) nations.

In his remarks on the occasion, he also underlined the value of scientific innovation and cooperation in tackling the interrelated problems that the OIC countries are facing with regard to the security of their food, energy, water, and ecosystems.
