Gaza situation apocalyptic; “no place safe to go”: UN

As Israel wages war on Hamas, senior UN officials have issued  dire warnings, calling the situation in Gaza “apocalyptic” and saying there is “no place safe to go” for people, CNN reported. The chief UN official in charge of emergency relief, Martin Griffiths, stated in a statement on Monday that “every time we think things  cannot get any more apocalyptic in Gaza, they do.” “People are being forced to make impossible choice after impossible choice, with little to survive on,” he added. “People are being  ordered to move again.” He went on, “Such blatant disregard for basic humanity must stop.” Deep worries for the residents who were seeking sanctuary in  southern Gaza over the weekend were heightened by reports of  hundreds of deaths from the brutal Israeli bombing.
