FM Bilawal urges exploring emerging diplomacy tools for effective narrative-building

ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari urged Pakistan’s young diplomats to experiment with new approaches to foreign policy, such as communication technology, in order to effectively promote country’s narrative around the world.

He said in his remarks at the 42nd Specialized Diplomatic Course graduation ceremony held at the Foreign Service Academy that the quick development of technological mediums had defined new lines for diplomacy and called for a flexible foreign service. The foreign minister emphasized the need for improved ability to deal with geopolitical and geoeconomic realities in light of new trends in diplomacy. He stressed the need for Pakistani diplomats to remain aware of other pressing issues like climate change, food security, public health, and water issues.

He mentioned that the Resilient Pakistan conference, which took place in Geneva last month, was a proud accomplishment of the nation and a catalyst for international assistance. He referred to it as evidence of Pakistan’s successful foreign policy. Regarding the polarization of geopolitics, he emphasized that power dynamics and an intensifying complex interplay continue to support significant changes in the global environment. The foreign minister mentioned that an effort to improve management and skills in foreign policy had begun.

He highlighted the need for effective liaison with overseas Pakistanis besides extending them maximum facilitation.

Bilawal commended the Director General FSA for conducting an excellent training that focused on advancing foreign policy amid contemporary challenges.

 

He hoped that FSA as a premier institution would continue to exhibit a strong commitment to producing outstanding diplomats.
