Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, the federal minister of finance and revenue, has advocated for digitising the tax system of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) by utilising data from PRAL (Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited) and REMIT.
The comments were made by Aurangzeb on Monday at the Finance Division during a meeting with Ali Malik, a partner at McKinsey & Co., and Tom Isherwood, regional head of technology and tax.
According to a statement issued by the Finance Division, Aurangzeb highlighted throughout the meeting the importance of making technological investments and encouraging a cultural shift towards digital government.
He emphasised the government’s resolve to enhance revenue collection by means of the FBR’s continuous digitization initiatives.
“The minister further mentioned that FBR’s tax system can be digitalized by using the data from PRAL and REMIT.”
