FIA challenges Imran, Qureshi’s cipher case acquittal in SC

Leading PTI figures Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi were acquitted in the cypher case, but the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) appealed this decision to the Supreme Court on Thursday.
On June 3, the conviction of the imprisoned PTI founder and Qureshi in the notorious case involving allegations of mishandling and misplacing the confidential diplomatic paper was overturned by the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

Days before the elections scheduled for February 8, the former prime minister and foreign minister were found guilty in the cypher case in January of this year and given 10-year prison sentences each.
The diplomatic cable issue started on March 27, 2022, when Khan waved a letter in front of the audience during a public rally.
