According to sources who spoke to the media on Tuesday, the federal cabinet approved the choices made by the Central Apex Committee of the National Action Plan, including Operation Azm-e-Istehkam.
The decision was made after the military operation—a nationwide counterterrorism campaign that has been reenergized and revitalized—was authorised by the Apex Committee last Saturday in order to intensify pressure on extremists who are attacking Pakistan.
Opposition parties, on the other hand, have expressed reservations about the military operation and have demanded that parliament be taken into confidence before making any decisions. These parties include the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam Fazl (JUI-F), Awami National Party (ANP), and others.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif stated that the government would appease the PTI and other opposition parties on the military operation in order to resolve the matter.
