The Pakistan Public Works Department (PWD) will be abolished, as agreed by the Federal Cabinet.
The approval was given during today’s federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad, which was presided over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The Asset and Facility Management Company will be established in accordance with the authorised plan to carry out the maintenance and repairs that were previously assigned to the Pakistan PWD. After grading, its employees will be moved to the appropriate ministries, and the Golden Handshake Scheme will also be put into place. The Pak-PWD will have computerised records of all of its properties.
The Pakistan Infrastructure Development Company will be established to oversee federal development projects, and the appropriate provincial institutions will be tasked with overseeing all provincial development projects overseen by the federal government.
The full transfer procedure is to be finished in two weeks, as authorised by the cabinet.
