Fawad Chaudhry rebuffs reports of crackdown on protesters

Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry negated reports of an operation against the protesters and claimed that the law and order situation in the country was under control.

In a tweet, Chaudhry said that the government does not want to use violence against protesters. Minister for Religious Affairs Noorul Haq Qadri is holding negotiations with the protesters, the information minister announced.

Meanwhile, Mobile phone services have been suspended in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore and Gujranwala from 8am till Maghrib.

Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry had announced that the mobile phone services would be suspended in the four cities.
