Expats playing key role in country’s development: Syed Khadim Abbas

Chichawatni: Commissioner Overseas Pakistani Commission Punjab Syed Khadim Abbas has said that overseas Pakistanis are playing a key role in the economic development of the country and their remittances are supporting millions of families. Protecting the interests of these hardworking and tireless Pakistanis and providing priority solutions to their problems is the responsibility of the administration and the police, which cannot be shirked. He was addressing a review meeting on pending applications of overseas Pakistanis related to Sahiwal Division at the Commissioner’s Office here, in which Commissioner Sahiwal Division Shoaib Iqbal Syed, RPO Mehboob Rasheed, Additional Commissioner to Ordination Shafiq Ahmed Dogar, A. C General Muhammad Waqas Zafar and AC Revenue Mian Nadeem Arshad along with Deputy Commissioners of the three districts, District Police Officers and officers of the concerned departments participated. He urged the officers to resolve the long pending applications of Overseas Pakistanis on priority basis so that their financial interests can be protected. He expressed concern over the illegal occupation of the properties of these working Pakistanis and said that the government cannot tolerate the occupation of their hard-earned property by others. 471 applications were received out of which 185 have been resolved while 150 have been closed. Currently, only 119 applications are pending across the division, out of which 84 are related to Sahiwal district, 31 are related to Okara district and 3 are related to Pakpattan district. Commissioner Syed Khadim Abbas expressed displeasure over the pending applications for more than a year and directed them to be resolved soon.
