Rawalpindi: Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has argued that the general elections should take place simultaneously nationwide .
The security chief declared that his “party is fully prepared” for the elections while speaking to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers’ convention on Sunday in Rawalpindi. They were unafraid of the elections, he continued. Hours prior to Sanaullah’s comments, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) excused itself from meeting with President Arif Alvi to discuss elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the time being, citing that the matter is already being reviewed by the judiciary.
Sanaullah retaliated against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, saying that the government’s response would be “far beyond his imagination” in reference to his “Jail Bharo Tehreek” (court arrest movement). The interior minister asserts that Khan’s goal is to bring anarchy and chaos to the nation. The interior minister made fun of the PTI leader, who has been residing at his Zaman Park home in Lahore, saying, “Khan launched the court arrest campaign but on the other hand he hid in a bunker.” Political workers wouldn’t be kept in jails, he added. Only those who wanted to bring about chaos and anarchy in the nation would be locked up.
