Efforts afoot to uplift livestock sector: Minister

Rana Tanveer Hussain, Minister for National Food Security and Research, reaffirmed on Monday the government’s unwavering commitment to boosting the livestock industry by bolstering the immunisation programme to eradicate various animal diseases from the nation.

In order to achieve sustainable agricultural growth through increasing farm production, he said, the government was also taking the necessary actions and offering technical assistance to livestock producers.

Speaking at a workshop here on PPR control and eradication, the minister announced that, with the help of provincial governments, the government has started a nationwide programme to do away with this illness. She also mentioned that as part of this programme, free vaccinations for sheep and goats are supplied.
