Effective decision making vital to cope with climate change: President

Citing Pakistan’s wealth of natural resources, President Dr. Arif Alvi stated on Tuesday that the country would have to embrace cutting-edge agricultural technology and make wise decisions if it was to  meet the challenges posed by climate change. In his opening speech at the Institute of Regional Studies-organized Regional Dialogue 2024 on “Climate Crisis: Shaping  South Asia’s Resilience,” the president stated that while Pakistan  had abundant water resources and potential for renewable energy, it desperately needed driving force to put the decisions into action  and raise the country to the level of the rest of the world. He informed the group of scholars, experts, and former diplomats  that Pakistan has about 150 million acre-feet of water, more than enough to cover its needs using current  agricultural methods.
