Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has advised individuals who want to demonstrate to hold off until after the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, stating that protesting during a nationally significant event does not send a constructive message.
Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Dar emphasised that Pakistan was ready to receive leaders and representatives from member and observer states as well as other attendees of the SCO summit.
He highlighted that, with almost 1,000 foreign delegates anticipated, this event represented a major diplomatic opportunity for Pakistan after 27 years.
Dar emphasised the value of maintaining national unity during such crucial international engagements and encouraged the PTI leadership to postpone their October 15 protest. The Chinese prime minister will also make a bilateral visit to Pakistan, the deputy prime minister added.
