Multan: President Pakistan Farmers’ Alliance Khalid Mehmood Khokhar said during a press conference at the Multan Press Club that Pakistan was at stake regaeding food security and prosperity of the economy. Food items and crops are facing an increasing situation of demand and logistics. Due to the negligence and mismanagement of governments, the cost of production of crops has increased threefold.
Farmers and the urban community are under high pressure due to the increase in prices of food, electricity, petrol and medicines. Pakistan needs immediate corrective measures to increase the production capacity of crops, livestock, poultry and fisheries as the cost of production is unbearable. The modernization of the agricultural sector can help the country to cultivate unpaid lands, including food processing and export of surplus goods.
Pakistani farmers can significantly reduce Pakistan’s trade deficit by increasing the production of wheat, cotton and oil crops. Private sector investment can bring about an ideal change in the agricultural sector by bringing modern agricultural technology, high cost seeds and digital solutions. The support and participation of all institutions and civil society, electronic and print media is an urgent need of the hour. “Agricultur save Pakistan”.
