KARACHI: Coronavirus positivity rate in provincial capital of Sindh, Karachi has risen to 40.91 percent as country faces fifth wave of the deadly virus fueled by Omicron variant.
According to details, 3769 tests for coronavirus were conducted in Karachi out of which 1542 turned out positive in the port city. In the last 24 hours, two people died of the disease in the province.
On the other hand, Pakistan has reported 15 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 1,386,348. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 29,137 on Wednesday.
According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) 5,196 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Till now 13,119 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab, 7,753 in Sindh 5,980 in KP, 979 in Islamabad, 752 in Azad Kashmir, 367 in Balochistan, and 187 in GB.
Furthermore 531,008 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 467,698 in Punjab 186,537 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 120,813 in Islamabad, 35,734 in Azad Kashmir 34,032 in Balochistan and 10,526 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
