The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led federal government does not face a “do or die” dilemma when it comes to passing constitutional revisions, according to Defence Minister Khawaja Asif.
Speaking to the media, he declared that three constitutional reforms that are all “in accordance” with the Charter of Democracy will be proposed by the government.
“Among the proposed amendments is the establishment of a constitutional court,” the minister of defence continued. According to him, the administration is looking for support for the constitutional reforms from the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), which is headed by Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Khawaja Asif stated, “Maulana Fazlur Rehman is being persuaded to support constitutional amendments.”
