Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar announced on Thursday that the federal government would present a letter to the federal cabinet regarding the creation of an inquiry commission. The letter, which comes from six judges of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), claims that the nation’s intelligence apparatus has interfered in judicial matters.
Following a meeting between Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif today, Tarar was speaking at a press conference in Islamabad.
Legal experts emphasised that the meeting was anything from routine and that it was very different from previous exchanges between former CJP Saqib Nisar and former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
CJP Isa called a second full court meeting in as many days following the meeting.
