During his extensive visit to Sialkot today, Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi examined the Government Sardar Begum Civil Hospital and the Allama Iqbal Medical Teaching Hospital in great detail. The Government Sardar Begum facility was discovered to have inadequate medical facilities, including deteriorated beds, wet walls, and a noticeable sewage odour resulting from a sewerage pipe leak within the facility. Attendants for patients were forced to sit on the floor in unkempt rooms. In addition to redesigning the hospital, the chief minister said that the government-run Sardar Begum Civil Hospital in Sialkot will also undergo an improvement. The upgrade will come with a budget of 21 crore rupees and include an area of 21 thousand square feet.
Mohsin Naqvi visited several wards, kept an eye on the renovation works, and asked patients about the treatment options. He conducted a firsthand inspection of the Emergency, ICU, Gynaecology, Lab, and other ward facilities. He visited the first floor, ground floor, and basement in great detail and shared his outrage over the state of the classrooms. After hearing about the problem of an elderly patient at the hospital, CM gave the DC instructions on how to resolve it. Later, the Chief Minister went to the Allama Iqbal Medical Teaching Hospital in Sialkot to assess the hospital’s ongoing renovation project. Mohsin Naqvi examined the hospital’s ongoing construction projects. He stated that the Allama Iqbal Medical Teaching Hospital’s renovation project would require spending Rs. 70 crore.
