Ahsan Iqbal, the federal minister for planning, development, and special initiatives, emphasised the $30 billion in losses that Pakistan’s economy has suffered as a result of recent climate disasters. According to a news release released here, the minister stressed the continuous fight to revive and rebuild the economy, especially in the badly impacted provinces of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
On Thursday, the minister presided over a meeting with a United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) group about the Carbon Market. Senior officials from the Member Climate Change Ministry of Planning attended the meeting.
“Pakistan requires substantial investment to enhance its climate resilience and mitigate future climate challenges,” said the minister.
“We don’t have enough money at home to make these investments.
