China to run 3 power plants on local coal in Pak

The major changes concerning imported coal-fired power facilities were revealed during the recent visit to China by Energy Minister Owais Leghari and Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.
Sources claim that China has approved the conversion of three power stations that now run on imported coal to local coal.
Given that these facilities provide some of the most expensive electricity in Pakistan, this decision has been made.
The Sahiwal Coal Power Plant, Hub Power Plant, and Port Qasim Power Plant are among the 1320 megawatt power plants in question.
At the moment, all of these use imported coal to run and produce expensive electricity for Pakistan’s energy needs.
According to sources, China gave the Pakistani team a favourable response about the re-profiling of these three coal-fired power projects.
