Families in northern Gaza mourned Sunday the deaths of their loved ones murdered in an Israeli airstrike that was part of a weeks-long, relentless military assault on the region, with their deceased relatives covered in white funeral shrouds.
Rescuers reported that at least 73 Palestinians were killed in the late Saturday hit, which destroyed entire blocks of residential structures in the town of Beit Lahia, with many more still buried beneath the debris, according to AFP photos.
In a scene already recognisable after a year of relentless Israeli airstrikes on the Palestinian territory, families gathered at the Kamal Adwan Hospital, one of the primary medical institutions in northern Gaza, where the dead were arranged in rows.
