Leslie Scanlon, Canada’s high commissioner, paid Jalil Abbas Jilani, the acting foreign minister, a visit on Thursday. The conference covered a range of topics, including the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Canada and the Pakistani government’s assistance in the process of resettling Afghan nationals in Canada. The Foreign Minister was praised by the Canadian High Commissioner for Pakistan’s cooperation in the resettlement process. In the meantime, Jalil Abbas Jilani, the acting foreign minister, was visited on Thursday by Amy Pope, the director general of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM). The foreign minister reiterated Pakistan’s support for the IOM’s mandate throughout the meeting. He was grateful for IOM’s important work in Pakistan, particularly in the fields of migration and humanitarian relief following the disastrous floods of 2022.
