Can all civilians be treated like APS attackers, asks SC judge

Justice Musarrat Hilali of the Supreme Court said on Wednesday that military trials were intended for those responsible for tragedies such as the Army Public School (APS) massacre and asked if the same procedure could be used for all civilians.
The matter was brought up at a hearing on intra-court appeals against the military trial of civilians before Justice Amin-Ud-Din Khan’s constitutional bench of the Supreme Court.
After being instructed to carry on with his arguments from yesterday’s hearing, Khawaja Haris, the Ministry of Defense’s attorney, read out the ruling of the Supreme Court declaring the civilians’ military trial to be void.
Haris contended that the precedent that civilians might be tried in military courts had already been set in earlier cases.
