Islamabad: Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Monday claimed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman had jumped his residence’s wall and escaped to his neighbour’s home to evade arrest. “Yesterday, there was a lot of drama for the team that went to arrest Khan. There are rumors that Khan entered his neighbors’ home to take cover. He eventually appeared from nowhere and gave a lengthy speech, the minister claimed at a press conference in Islamabad. The minister acknowledged that this wasn’t the best course of action if the police wanted to detain the former prime minister. “To let him know about the court’s orders, the police went there. But he lacks any sense of shame.
Sanaullah added that the police will arrest him and bring him before the court without second thought. The interior minister continued by alleging that Khan abused his power in regards to Toshakhana gifts. The deposed prime minister, who lost his position in April of last year and has since been protesting the government, will have to appear before the court, according to the minister. Sanaullah stated, “If the court exonerates Imran Khan, we will accept it,” adding that the government has no intention of detaining him but that he should make sure to appear in court. The PTI leader was criticized by the interior minister for the decisions he made while inoffice: “Imran Khan’s economic policies have resulted in a fall’.
The interior minister claimed that instead of conducting business, people are now hoarding money. The government has not yet put an end to the illegal crossing of money across the border, he continued. Billion-dollar sums are being smuggled into Afghanistan in sacks, Sanaullah continued. “The individuals responsible for the smuggling should be identified and held accountable.” The $350 billion economy of Pakistan is in dire need of dollars, and the smuggling of dollars to Afghanistan is making matters worse. The terrorist attack on the van carrying the Balochistan Constabulary in Bolan was strongly denounced by Rana Sanaullah Khan.
He expressed his profound sorrow and grief over the attack’s loss of priceless lives.
Rana Sanaullah paid tributes to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for security of the country.
“The entire nation stood with the law enforcement agencies in the war against terrorism,” he added.
The minister also condoled with the families of martyred personnel and prayed for speedy recovery of the injured.
Rana Sanaullah also sought report of the attack.
