A bill against government personnel’ dual citizenship has been introduced to the National Assembly (NA) by a politician who believes that after retiring, these officials flee to other countries and avoid accountability.
On Thursday, MP Noor Alam Khan of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) delivered the amendment bill to the NA Secretariat.
It declared that a person with dual citizenship or nationality should not be eligible to be appointed as a civil servant.
According to a document obtained , MNA Noor proposed the “Civil Servants (Amendment) Bill, 2024,” which would amend Section 5 of the Civil Servants Act, 1973.
“Provided that a civil servant holding dual nationality or citizenship of any foreign country shall not be entitled for appointment,” it stated.
