At the request of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko began his three-day official visit to Pakistan on Monday, arriving in Islamabad.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, along with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Senator Mohsin Naqvi, Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar, and other high-ranking officials, welcomed the Belarusian president when he arrived at the Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi.
The President of Belarus received bouquets of flowers from children dressed in traditional clothing.
President Lukashenko and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will have lengthy discussions during his visit about potential areas of engagement and cooperation between the two countries. Additionally, during the visit, a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) will be inked.
Belarusian President’s visit reflects the strong and growing partnership between Pakistan and Belarus.
Meanwhile PM Shehbaz Sharif in his post on X said Pakistan and Belarus enjoy strong fraternal relations and “we will work together to further strengthen these ties”.
“Delighted to welcome my dear friend Aleksandr Lukashenko, President of Republic of Belarus to Islamabad. Looking forward to our discussions during this important visit,” he added.
