Muhammad Aurangzeb, the federal minister of finance and revenue, outlined recent improvements in the economic environment here on Friday. These improvements included rising foreign exchange reserves, falling inflation, and improved tax collection.
In a meeting with Shi Yuanqiang, the charge d’affaires of the People’s Republic of China Embassy, and other Embassy representatives, the minister presented important changes in the energy sector, state-owned enterprises (SOEs), and continued efforts to privatise.
The meeting was also attended by Minister of Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Muhammad Ali on Power, and Minister of State for Finance and Revenue, Ali Pervaiz Malik.
According to a press release, the minister emphasised the importance of export-led growth and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to drawing in more foreign direct investment (FDI).
