Just one day before Pakistan’s general elections, two separate bombings in Balochistan targeted political candidates, resulting in at least 28 fatalities and over 40 injuries on Wednesday. In the first incident, an explosion outside the office of an independent candidate in Pishin, Balochistan, killed at least 15 lives and injured over 30, while the second explosion happened outside the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) office in the Killa Saifullah area. The Pishin explosion happened in the Khanozai neighbourhood near the political office of independent candidate Asfand Yar Khan Kakar. In the elections scheduled for February 8, Kakar is running from the NA-265 seat as well as the PB-47 and PB-48 Balochistan Assembly seats. The injured have been moved to Khanozai’s Tehsil Hospital.
