Asif Ali Zardari, the co-chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), was sworn in as the nation’s 14th president today (Sunday) after winning by a wide majority in the previous election. In the Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa delivered the oath to the newly elected president during the swearing-in event. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Arif Alvi, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, and all three service chiefs were present at the ceremony. In addition, chief ministers, foreign diplomats, and governors of the four provinces took part in the event.
