Article 370: Filed Petitions will be heard on October 1st

New Dehli: The Supreme Court of India will hear petitions filed by the government on August 5 against measures to abolish Kashmir’s semi-autonomous status.

The five-member bench of the Supreme Court of India will hear about 14 petitions filed against the elimination of Articles 370 and 35A.

A five-member bench will be headed by Justice NV Ramana. It will include Justice Sanjay Krishna Cole, Justice R Subhash Reddy, Justice BR Gauli and Justice Suria Kant.

The Supreme Court had also issued notices to the federal government and other parties on the removal of Articles 370 and 35A.

Remember that, The Chief Justice had sought the report of the Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court and said that he would go to Kashmir himself if needed.

It is understood that several persons, including Advocate ML Sharma, former bureaucrat and politician Shah Faisal, former student union leader Shahla Rasheed, have filed constitutional petitions against the elimination of Articles 370 and 35A.

In the past, a human rights activist Anakashi Ganguly filed an appeal in the Supreme Court saying that a large number of children were also detained in Jammu and Kashmir. The appeal stated that the cases of custody of the children were being looked at by the Judicial Justice Committee appointed by the Jammu and Kashmir High Court but there were difficulties in accessing the High Court.
