According to a statement from the Armenian Foreign Ministry, Armenia has formally recognised the state of Palestine, disregarding Israel’s opposition to the decision, as reported by Al Jazeera.
The statement further stated that Armenia is in favour of a two-state solution to the Palestinian-Israeli issue and supports a UN resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
Anadolu Agency reports that a UN representative has expressed alarm over the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and urged Israel to permit the delivery of aid.
Farhan Haq, the deputy spokesperson, told reporters that “humanitarian operations in Gaza must be fully facilitated and all impediments must be lifted.” He emphasised that the lack of access continues to “severely undermine” the provision of services and humanitarian aid throughout Gaza.
