After the launch of a biometric verification app by the Standard Chartered Bank earlier this month, another leading bank from the finance sector of Pakistan, Bank Alfalah, has now launched a mobile application for the biometric verification of its customers.
The app, called ‘BAFL Bio Verisys’, offers biometric verification for its account holders via Pakistan’s National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA).
The app requires users to simply fill the blanks with information such as your CNIC number and phone number. Afterwards, it asks you to place your index finger (or the finger you choose from options) in front of the rear camera of the phone in order to authenticate your biometrics.
Sharing his experience of using the app, Ahmed Ali, a Bank Alfalah customer, expressed contentment on the user-friendly features of the app. “The process is quick and easy to understand. Most importantly, it saves the customers from the hassle of taking time out to visit the bank.”
Another customer, Jamshed Hussain, lauded the use the technology in the finance sector of Pakistan. “I am glad that finally, the banks have started utilising the available technology in order to facilitate the customers,” he told Pakistan Today.
talking about the app, he said that he faced some problems with regard to placement of the finger but admitted that it was largely due to his own mistake.
“In order to avoid any inconvenience, try to capture a clear image of the fingertip at the black background,” he advised.
It is pertinent to mention that banks in Pakistan have started temporarily blocking the accounts of those customers who have not availed biometric verification until now. The State Bank of Pakistan had made biometric verification a regulatory requirement for bank accounts older than 2016, when no biometric database was available.
