After Justice Naqvi, SC’s Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan also ‘resigns’

A day after Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi resigned, Supreme  Court Justice Ijazul Ahsan shockingly announced his resignation on Thursday. Following Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, Justice Ahsan was supposed  to be the next Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP). “I no longer wish to continue as a judge of the Supreme Court of  Pakistan,” Justice Ahsan stated in his letter of resignation to the  president. According to Article 206(1) of the Constitution, he declared he was  resigning with immediate effect. The resignation’s reason was not stated in the letter. Justice Naqvi, who is being accused of misconduct, submitted his  resignation as a Supreme Court judge a day ago, and President Arif Alvi accepted it earlier today.
