The government’s top priority, according to Federal Minister of Energy (Power Division), Sardar Awais Khan Leghari, is to provide the public with affordable electricity by implementing energy reforms.
He stated in an interview that the administration was closely examining the concerns raised by independent power producers (IPPs) and that it will soon lower electricity costs through communication and cooperation with them.
He went on to say that the interests of the people, not those of any capitalists or elites, were the government’s top priority.
“About 10,000 megawatts will be added to the system through these projects,” he stated in reference to the hydropower developments.
“The government, through identifying and fixing the fault lines in the power sector, will be able to generate cheap electricity,” he stated.
