Adapting Indus Basin key to adapt Pakistan to climate change: PM

Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the caretaker prime minister, stated on Sunday that because the bulk of the population in the Indus Basin is dependent on the river, climate change adaptation in Pakistan is essential to climate change  adaptation in the Indus Basin. He claimed that the main cause of Pakistan’s climate crisis was a  water shortage that required urgent attention. Speaking at the ‘Living Indus Initiative’ event at the Pakistan  Pavilion at the United Nations’ 28th Conference of Parties (COP 28), the prime minister stated that Pakistan ranks eighth globally in  terms of climate change vulnerability. According to him, Living Indus is a broad project that aims to  bring back the natural balance of the Indus inside Pakistan’s  borders.
