QUETTA – Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran, the Balochistan Minister for Construction and Communications, was detained by police on Wednesday in connection with the brutal killing of three people in the Barkhan district.
In this regard, police reported that the minister had been detained on suspicion of killing three people, sparking demonstrations in Quetta that have now lasted two days and are demanding justice. Abdul Rehman is accused by Muhammad Marri, whose three family members were killed, of holding his five other relatives in a “private jail.”

He said he wanted to be a Sardar and that Inam had recorded the woman’s statement. Khetran declared he would not resign and was prepared to participate in the investigation.
Following the Barkhan incident, the Balochistan Home Minister Mir Zia Langau sent a letter to the law enforcement agencies requesting their assistance in locating the Murri tribe’s hostages. According to the letter, it is the job of the law enforcement agencies to protect people’s lives. The letter came after a woman and her two sons’ bodies were pulled from a well in the Barkhan area on Tuesday. A video of a woman being freed from a private prison while holding the Holy Quran in her hand surfaced on social media a few days ago.
