Asma Jahangir nominated for UN Human Rights Award 2018

The United Nations will posthumously award the Asma Jahangir with the Human Rights Award 2018 on December 10.

The award will also coincide with the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The prize to recognise individuals or organisations for outstanding achievements in the field of human rights is given out every five years.

Jahangir served as the UN Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial Executions from 1998 to 2004 and as the UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion and Belief from 2004 to 2010.
