ISLAMABAD: Federation of Pakistan Chamber and Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has constituted a high-level 17-member committee to highlight budget anomalies and address the genuine grievances of the traders.

FPCCI chief Daroo Khan Achakzai announced that the committee, which would consist of leading business leaders, would be headed by United Business Group Chairman Iftikhar Ali Malik.

Meanwhile, the UBG chairman has asked all chambers, affiliated traders’ associations and trade bodies throughout the country to send their grievances immediately within three days directly to him or the federation house or respective provincial offices so that issues could be addressed timely through consultations with the concerned authorities.

He said that Prime Minister’s Advisor on Finance Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Advisor on Commerce Abdul Razzak Dawood, National Assembly’s Finance Committee Chairman Asad Omar and Punjab Governor Muhammad Sarwar Chaudhary had fully assured him of taking concrete steps to boost economic activities in the county by taking stakeholders into confidence.

He said that he would leave no stone unturned unless all legitimate grievances of the business community and traders were addressed.

He said that committee, after compiling the relevant data, would meet all the concerned federal ministers and advisors so that solutions could be found and confidence of the local and foreign investors could be restored.

Malik said he would review and hold deliberations with the members before taking up the complaints with the Budget Anomaly Committee set up by the government.

He said that the business community was the backbone of the national economy and it was the moral obligation on the government to facilitate the traders in order to encourage ease of doing business in the country.

He said the committee would hold meetings with stakeholders in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.

United Business Group Patron-in-Chief SM Munir hoped that the committee would deliver the goods in line with the aspiration of the business community.
