According to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, automated systems modeled after Karachi’s Faceless Customs Assessment System would soon be implemented in all sectors.
He was speaking to a Pakistan Business Council team in Islamabad today, which was headed by Chairman Shabbir Diwan.
Transparency in the service delivery process is one of the government’s main concerns, according to the prime minister. According to him, steps are being taken to boost exports since the government wants to see economic growth based on exports.
Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that in order to boost exports, locally produced raw materials and other goods must be brought up to international standards. He asserted that economic development depends on the adoption of IT and technology across all industries.
The Prime Minister said national development and economic stability depend on cooperation between the government and the business community. He said increasing revenue and expanding the tax base are being given priority.
The delegation commended the Prime Minister for recent economic stability in the country. Members of the delegation opined that the gradual reduction in the policy interest rate to twelve percent will auger well for the business in the country. They also declared the recently installed Faceless Customs Assessment System in Karachi a success.
The delegation said that Faceless Customs Assessment System has facilitated the business community and brought transparency to the clearance system. It welcomed the significant improvement in the performance of the Federal Board of Revenue after digitization and other reforms.
