PM vows to combat challenge of misinformation on social media

In an effort to eradicate terrorism and extremism from the nation, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif pledged Friday to address the rising problem of digital media, including fake news and disinformation on social media platforms.

“On the digital front, certain foreign elements are spewing hate speech against Pakistan on social media. While presiding over the Apex Committee of National Action Plan meeting, the prime minister stated, “This is also a significant challenge, which is supported by distorted facts and twisted reality.”

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, members of the federal cabinet, provincial chief ministers, the commander of army staff, and other high-ranking officials were present at the meeting.
