According to DPM Ishaq Dar, the government handled a political party’s demonstration on November 24 with total patience.
He explained to the international diplomats at the Foreign Office in Islamabad today that law enforcement organisations were given batons, water cannon and tear gas instead of live ammunition.
Ishaq Dar further underlined that the Army was called in in accordance with the constitution and that it stayed in the third line of defence to safeguard federal institutions such as the Presidency, the Prime Minister’s House, and the Parliament House, as well as the diplomatic corps.
No federating unit has the authority to march on the capital, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasised, lamenting the usage of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government resources in the protest by the political party.
