PM directs strict action to curb hoarding, tax evasion in sugar sector

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif gave the Federal Board of Revenue, Federal Investigation Agency, and Intelligence Bureau instructions to work together to stop the illegal sale of sugar, tax fraud, and product price increases.

According to a press release from the PM Office, the prime minister instructed the sugar mills and sugar dealers to guarantee full recovery of General Sales Tax in a significant decision regarding these businesses as the crushing season was about to begin.

In order to assist keep prices stable, he gave the relevant authorities instructions to install cameras at the sugar mills to monitor sugar hoarding. By keeping an eye on the mills’ production process and examining the hoarding, it will also aid in the recovery of the sales tax.
