SC’s constitutional bench hears decades-old pending cases

In an effort to reduce the significant backlog and provide petitioners justice, the six-member constitutional bench began considering cases in Court  Room No. on Thursday that had been waiting at the Supreme  Court for years. The new bench, established by the 26th Amendment to the  Constitution, is hearing cases for the first time. According to the cause list for November 14 and 15, the bench  chaired by Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan is scheduled to hear around 34 cases. Of these cases, 16 are slated for hearing on Friday (tomorrow), while 18 are scheduled for hearing today. Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar,  Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Musarrat Hilali, and Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan make up the constitutional bench, which is  led by Justice Khan.
