In order to eliminate the backlog, the judges committee of the Supreme Court of Pakistan determined on Tuesday that the oldest constitutional matters will be given priority.
Under the direction of Mr. Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, Head of the Constitutional Bench, a meeting of the committee established under Article 191A (4) of the constitution was held at the Supreme Court in Islamabad to consider issues pertaining to the constitutional bench’s constitution.
Mr. Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar (who participated via telephone from Karachi) and Mr. Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail attended the meeting.
The committee was informed during the meeting by the Registrar’s Office of the cases that are still outstanding and under the constitutional bench’s purview. Following careful deliberation, the committee decided that the oldest cases would be given priority.
